WREXHAM FC stars from the past will be in action in Penycae this weekend.

For their second match of the season, the star-studded Wrexham Legends will pay a visit to take on Penycae Vets this Sunday, kick-off 12pm.

Penycae Vets manager Ian Andrews is certainly looking forward to the occasion.

Asked how the match came about, Andrews said: "I have seen that the legends have been doing games over the last couple of years.

"We have had a vets' side ourselves and we used to play in the Shropshire league on Friday night.

"But since Covid we haven't played."

Andrews added: "The lads are looking forward to it.

"I think we could have had two or three teams out!

"Most of us are over 40 and there are a few new ones."

On who he's looking forward to seeing, Andrews said: "King Karl, I used to go and watch him when I was younger.

"And Martyn Chalk, I played with him at Cefn Druids.

"After the last 18 months for the club I think it will generate a bit of money for the club and hopefully there will be a decent crowd there."

Among those who will be turning out for the Wrexham Legends will by Karl Connolly, Martyn Chalk, Ryan Valentine, Robin Gibson, Andy Holt and Mike Williams, while Bryn Law will be the dressing room DJ.

Admission to the match is £1.
