With the first half-term break of this academic year taking place I want to thank all the teachers, school staff, parents and of course pupils, for all their hard work in recent weeks. A fantastic amount of effort is put in by staff, parents and pupils alike, to make a school work and so I want to wish you all the very best for this short autumn break.

Before half-term began I had the opportunity to carry out my first in person school visit since the pandemic began and spoke to Year 5 and 6 pupils at Ysgol Gwenffrwd in Holywell. It was great to speak to the pupils about my role as their Member of the Senedd and answer a range of questions. The topics included my background and interests, as well as the need to support refugees and for investment in our corner of the country, especially in transport infrastructure and protecting our environment. Diolch yn fawr for the warm welcome!

I also held two in person events on Friday to hear directly from constituents about their ideas and concerns. An advice session in Mold meant that I was able to safely speak face to face with constituents about issues which are impacting their lives and I will be holding more of these in the coming weeks.

The other event was my final drop in session for my transport survey, this time in Northop Hall. Thank you to those who have either attended my sessions or completed the survey online, to share their views and experiences of our transport infrastructure. The survey will remain open until the end of October at www.HannahBlythyn.cymru/transport-survey and hard copies are still available by contacting my office.

Many Leader readers will know that I do my best to mark awareness days, weeks and months throughout the year, to support different charities and causes in raising general awareness. Each year October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month, a cause which is close to my heart and on Friday I joined with millions of others across the country in wearing pink. Wear It Pink is a campaign by Breast Cancer Now which has now been running for 20 years and has raised over £36 million for breast cancer care and research. I also Wore It Red in support of Show Racism the Red Card in their continuing campaign to end racism in our communities. The team deliver brilliant educational workshops to schools and youth groups up and down the country, using sport as their hook, to educate children and young people on how we help make Wales an anti-racist nation.
