A PUB quiz has brought in thousands of pounds for a local hospice which relies on public support.

The Sun Trevor, in Llangollen, has raised an incredible £18,000 for Nightingale House Hospice since they launched their weekly pub quiz.

Last month, owners Paul and Katy Jones were joined by quizmaster Maggie Smith and MP Simon Baynes as they handed their latest achievement of £1,300 over to Nightingale House.

Sue Williams, Community Engagement Officer at Nightingale House said: "Thank you so much to Paul, Katy, Maggie and all of those who loyally support The Sun Trevor’s quiz each week.

"Since the quiz began, The Sun Trevor has raised over £18,000 for the hospice. An amazing amount. We are so grateful for their loyal support.

"Nightingale House Hospice relies on the support of local businesses and individuals to continue to provide patient care and family support services to our community.

"We are very grateful to all at The Sun Trevor and their wonderful community for their continued generosity, thank you."

Simon Baynes MP added: "It was a privilege to join Paul, Katy and Maggie following the culmination of their incredible hard work and fundraising efforts at The Sun Trevor and the generosity of all their customers at their weekly pub quizzes to hand over £1,300 to Sue Williams and the team at Nightingale House.

"I want to congratulate Paul and Katy as the owners of the Sun Trevor and I want to pay special tribute to Maggie Smith who has done a truly excellent job as the Quizmaster.

"I’d highly recommend Llangollen residents and fans of a good pub quiz take a look and consider get involved with their next quiz."
