A FAMILY is hoping for one last Christmas together after a heart-breaking diagnosis.

Angela McKenzie, of Broughton, has been battling cancer for a while, but was recently given a devastating prognosis that this has spread and is now terminal.

Family friend Joanne Carr has launched a fundraising effort in a bit to give this family the last Christmas together that they deserve.

She told the Leader: “She’s had cancer for a long, long time but she’s just deteriorated, and I wanted to help.

“She was told not long ago that she hasn’t got long left to live so we know this will be her last Christmas with her family, if she makes it to Christmas. We hope she does.

“You wouldn’t know she’s ill by looking at her, she’s just amazing. It’s in her liver and spine and we just want to raise as much as we can to help the family.

“Her husband Craig can’t work because he’s looking after her and she can’t work. I just wanted them to have an amazing Christmas, or if they needed the money before then it’s there.

“Craig wants to do so much and take her places but they just haven’t got the money. But if the worse comes to it, they haven’t got to worry about anything.

“I wanted to take away some of that burden.”

A coffee morning will also be held at Offas Dyke at 11am as well as a fundraising evening on November 13.

Amy Holden will also be taking part in a 10k run around Airbus to raise further funds.

The fundraising page reads: “I have created this page to help the amazingly strong lady Angela to have a unforgettable Christmas with her family.

“Angela who is married to Craig and mother to their 2 children Em, 13 and Oliver 8, has stage 4 cancer. This beautiful family will have their last Christmas with Angela this year and I would love for it to be financially worry free and amazing for them, to make the best memories.

“Angela is an inspirational lady who pushes herself everyday to make sure she has an active role in her families life whilst she battles this awful, painful disease.

“Angela never moans, she's fought and pushes herself to keep herself involved in her families activities even when she is absolutely shattered.

“She is amazing and so is her husband who is now unable to work and is taking care of the family and looking after their family home.

“Please let's help make this a wonderful Christmas for an amazing family who deserve it.”
