A WREXHAM man suffered "severe crush injuries" during an incident involving machinery at his workplace, an inquest opening heard.
Adrian Constantin Andrei, of Rivulet Road in Wrexham, was taken to hospital at The Walton Centre in Liverpool after suffering "severe head injuries" while on shift at AST Plastic Containers.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 25 while Mr Constantin Andrei, 35, was working his regular shift as a machine operator at the Wrexham-based site.
At a brief hearing in Ruthin on Monday (October 11), an inquest opening heard that Mr Constantin Andrei suffered "multiple severe head injuries" in the incident and was pronounced dead at the Walton Centre shortly before 6pm.
A Home Office post-mortem examination provided a cause of death as the result of "severe crush injuries".
A joint Health and Safety Executive and North Wales Police investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales East and Central, said a full inquest will be deferred pending the outcome of the investigation.
