WE need more police on the beat, a concerned councillor has expressed as issues become ‘increasingly worse’.

Erratic cycling on pavements and electric scooters have become an increasingly concerning issue in Shotton, as well as drinking in public amongst other things.

At the Shotton October monthly meeting, Cllr Mike Evans said police on the beat were urgently needed.

He said: “This is ongoing and I bring it up at every meeting and unfortunately probably will do until I’m no longer here but these bikes and e-scooters.

“We’ve been talking about this for the last 10 to 15 years and it’s increasingly getting worse. We need these police on the beat.

“I’m glad to hear Dave (Evans) saying he spotted them, that’s great, we’ve been asking for this. But we would like to see them out and about on the beat, visible, not just in cars.

“We don’t expect them every day but we know when most cyclists are about down in the town and issues on a Friday and Saturday evening.

“We aren’t asking them for 24-hour patrols but if they are seen on the street, it works.”
