MEMBERS of the public are being encouraged to make use of a scheme to tell police about places where they feel unsafe.

Wrexham Town's police team has invited residents to use the StreetSafe pilot service.

It is for anyone to anonymously tell police about public places where they have felt or feel unsafe, because of environmental issues like street lighting, abandoned buildings or vandalism and/or because of some behaviours, like being followed or verbally abused.

The scheme is not for reporting crime or incidents.

A spokesman for the Wrexham Town Police team said: "No one should feel unsafe.

"That is why we are supporting the StreetSafe pilot, which is a new tool on the Police UK website that allows members of the public to anonymously pinpoint places which make them feel unsafe and say why.

"Tell us about places in North Wales that you’re concerned about and we’ll work with partners to make the area a safer place to be.

"This is not a tool to report crime. Please report crime t our website, by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency."
