RESIDENTS have been warned about a recent telephone scam.

Flintshire Trading Standards Department issued the advice after a resident received a call from a company concerning their TV insurance.

A Trading Standards spokesman explained: "The caller stated that a contract had been taken out in 2019 to have the residents tv insured against accidental damage.

"The resident did not have any such insurance in place.

"The caller asked for a sum of £79 to be paid immediately as it would go up to £100 tomorrow, in order to cancel the contract.

"The caller also claimed that the resident's visa card had run out and asked the resident to give them the details of the new card.

"The caller also said that the contract would be £180 for a further three years.

"The caller said her name was 'Emma Gray' the company was Homecare, phone no: 01206803106.

"Flintshire Trading Standards would like to warn the public of this scam and remind you not to provide any personal details or give out bank details to companies that you do not know or trust.
