YOU may have been wondering why a plane was circling over Chester earlier this afternoon towing a banner which said: "Get into bed!".

The light aircraft was up in the sky for around an hour with people speculating on social media as to the meaning behind the message.

Many wondered if it was an opposing message to the 'Wake up' graffiti which has been scribbled onto several walls and buildings around the city in recent months.

It actually turned out to be an advertising stunt by Chester-based student letting agent Bed Student Rentals to coincide with the Freshers' Fair event at The Carriage Shed.

It posted an Instagram story stating: "Keep your eyes on the sky at 1pm for a special surprise."

Bed Student Rentals later shared a number of videos it had been tagged in of the plane flying overhead.

Not everyone was best pleased by the stunt, with councillor Jill Houlbrook posting on Twitter: "It’s just circling over me time and time again. My head is about to explode, there must be regulations surely?"

Resident Andy Scargill tweeted: "A Cessna 182C Skylane reg G-ARAW is currently circling over Chester towing a banner saying [GET INTO BED !]

"Bit weird ... aerial advertising? Hardly environmentally friendly."
