PEOPLE are urged to take advantage of a one-of-a-kind outdoor cinema experience and lights show in Flintshire.

The first of three of five outdoor cinema events held at Mold Rugby Club runs tonight (Wednesday, September 22) and promises to be a spectacular feast of song, dance and amazing lighting.

It is being run by After Light, a local business set up by Joe Bellis, from New Brighton.

Joe has put his love of stage lighting effects into practice and is mixing outdoor cinema with synchronised lighting effects - a first for outdoor cinemas in the UK.

"This is our unique selling point," Joe said.

"People often see us just offering an outdoor cinema experience, and they're often very pleasantly surprised to find that it's a lot more than that.

"The synchronised lighting provides a whole new dimension and experience."

Tonight, the cult class Grease is being screened - with tickets available on the door or via https://www.afterlightevents.co.uk/

Doors open at 6.30pm, and the screening starts at 7.30pm.

Joe, 26, said: "It will be finished by 9.30pm, so while it's a school night tonight, and tomorrow, it's not too much of a late night and so would be fantastic to see some children there!"

Tomorrow night (Thursday), High School Musical 3 is being screened, and on Friday, Disney hit Moana is being shown - with both screenings on at 7.30pm and ticketing arrangements the same as for Grease.

Joe explained how his fledgeling business came to be.

"We were watching Lion King one night, and I decided to mess around with the lights by shining them all into the trees and it created this beautiful orange effect," he said.

"My partner asked why don't I do this commercially - and that's where the idea to mix the cinema with the lighting effects came to be."

Due to inclement weather in August, this week's three screenings have been rescheduled after they were postponed last month.

But Joe says the other two screenings which did take place in August went down a treat.

"We screened Mama Mia and it was absolutely brilliant - everyone was up and dancing throughout and it was beautiful to see," he said.

"We're so thankful for the support of the community and would be hugely grateful to anyone who decides to attend any of this week's events."

Joe says he hopes to grow his business and expand to other parts of the UK - but at the moment is focusing on generating enough money to help to buy what he needs to continue to improve the experience.
