WE'RE barely halfway through September and I'm sure we've all heard the C-word more than once.

That's right, Christmas is is only - checks calendar - 100 days away.

For some of us it isn't Christmas until we've seen the Coca Cola truck, watched Hans Gruber fall from the Nakatomi Tower, or, you know, it's December.

But for many shoppers it can feel like it starts at the end of August.

We took a quick scoot around several shops in Wrexham and Flintshire to see if they have decked their halls yet.

The Range seems to be the leading early bird (a robin presumably) with its stores in Wrexham and Deeside having huge areas dedicated to seasonal fare.

Shoppers have to walk by a veritable forest of artificial Christmas trees, with several aisles dedicated to decorations, including full-size Victorian-style lampposts containing Christmas dioramas.

There are a selection of the old office favourite - the Christmas jumper - some featuring Will Ferrell from the festive favourite movie Elf.

Home Bargains, which has shops in Connah's Quay, Flint, and Wrexham, also has Christmas stock for sale.

During a peruse around the smaller Quay store today, we found an aisle dedicated to Christmas decorations and gifts. The perennial Lynx gift set alongside Santa's biscuit selection (doesn't he prefer mince pies?).

However, Home Bargains has more space dedicated to Halloween items, which is itself more than a month away.

Supermarkets like Aldi in Mold seem to be keeping their artificial snow powder dry, but it can only be a matter of weeks before Aldi's Thursday offer middle aisle is stocked with Christmas treats and bargains.

So, are you stocking up for Christmas? Or do you think shops start pushing Christmas far too early?
