A FLINTSHIRE Council employee was found dead at his home in Denbigh after he wasn't seen by neighbours for several days.

An inquest at County Hall in Ruthin heard that police were asked to do a welfare check at the home of Mark Christopher Williams in Denbigh.

Officers forced entry into the home of the 57-year-old at Brookhouse, Denbigh, on the evening of March 25 this year.

They found him hanging in the bathroom upstairs.

A note was found for his daughter Ceri, who was working as a teacher in China, indicating that he had meant to take his own life.

In a written statement, his brother David said Mr Williams was the son of David and Margaret Williams and he had lived on the family farm near Mold.

He moved back to the farm after his marriage had ended, but after his parents had passed away he bought his own house in Denbigh in 2018.

He worked as an environment officer for Flintshire Council. He enjoyed his job and was proud of his daughter.

David and sister Sandra would regularly visit Mark and on occasion he would visit the farm.

Mr Williams said: "He never seemed troubled."

He added: "He was well-liked, a nice chap and a hard worker.

"I was left shocked and upset by his passing. He was a great brother and friend."

The inquest heard that Mark had little contact with his GP surgery, but there was nothing relating to mental health or depression in his medical history.

A postmortem found no evidence of serious health conditions.

Coroner for North Wales East and Central John Gittins said he was satisfied Mr Williams had intended to take his own life.

A conclusion of suicide was recorded.
