A FUNDAY was held at community centre to mark a landmark date.

New Brighton community centre celebrated its 30th birthday with the event on Sunday.

Hundreds attended the event despite the rainy weather, and one of the chief organisers, Darren Morris, was delighted with how it went.

He said: "What an amazing day. We wanted to organise a day to bring our special community together at New Brighton Community Centre. it started off wet and carried on being wet all day.

"But that didn’t stop our amazing community coming together. We were packed!

"I would like to thank Hannah Blythyn Member of Senedd for attending and spending time with us all on this wet Sunday.

"Also a huge thank you to the amazing team we have at New Brighton Community Centre. On to the next event now."

It included a variety of stalls, penalty shootouts, a train ride, crafts, superheroes and even a fashion show made up of recycled items.

The community centre's bar was open, and the New Brighton bowling club - which is based at the site - was also open to people to have a go at the sport.
