MS for Delyn

Last week the Welsh Government released some of their early plans for the North Wales Metro, which will see both new and improved stations across our region. The plans also included their priorities up until 2029 which include a new train station at Greenfield.

This is fantastic news for our corner of the country as it is another step in improving the connectivity between our communities and making public transport more accessible. I have always support the community’s ambition to make this station a reality and have previously invited both the First Minister and former Economy Minister to visit the site and pushed the Welsh Government to commit it’s support.

I have already been in touch with the Deputy Minister for Climate Change and look forward to sharing more information in the coming months.

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to call in at the community fun day organised by New Brighton Community Centre, which despite the wet weather, proved to be a fantastic success. There was lots of fun and games, food, drink and even locally provided music, which brought the community together in a safe and positive way.

A big thank you from me to Darren and the team at the Community Centre for all their hard work not just on the weekend, but all year round. The Centre has a range of different groups which make use of the space on a regular basis, from dance classes and boot camps, to children’s play groups and hosting the mobile library.

If you live locally I would encourage you to see what is on offer as I’m sure the team can find something to meet your needs and interests.

Many Leader readers will have concerns around the flash flooding which we saw last week and I have written to Flintshire County Council to raise a number of concerns around blocked drains and regular pooling of water.

I am also in regular contact with Betsi Cadwaladr UHB around the concerns with the Laurels surgery in Flint, and other health services, and continue to raise constituents’ experiences with them. The health board recognise there are continuing issues at the practice and have plans in place to improve the services offered, and I will do all I can to support them.

If you or a loved one has a concern which you would like to raise with me then please email me at Hannah.Blythyn@senedd.wales or call 01352 762102.
