DEESIDE Leisure Centre has reopened its gym and spa after being closed for 18 months due to Covid.

The gym and spa had been closed temporarily when the leisure centre was transformed into a Rainbow Hospital.

Now the centre operators, Aura Leisure, have announced that Deeside Gym and the Afon Spa have reopened for business.

A spokesperson for Aura said: โ€œThe whole Aura team is delighted to have the gym and spa reopen at Deeside Leisure Centre, and so excited to be welcoming customers back. We have already had some lovely feedback from customers about our new, fresh look gym โ€“ itโ€™s amazing to see the gym and spa busy and buzzing with people using the facility again. We would like to thank all our wonderful members, and the community as a whole, for their continued support.

"Now, more than ever, health and wellbeing is of huge importance and Deeside gym and spa hope to play a crucial part in supporting the community to keep active, reach new fitness goals, and most importantly, prioritise wellbeing."

The gym and spa have now got functional training zones and an extended studio cycling facilities, including a 15 metre track and the latest bike technology.

Work to restore the leisure centre to its former use began on July 19 and is being completed in phases. Other facilities, including the sports hall and skate park, are scheduled to return later in the autumn.

Work on the ice rink is due to begin at the end of the mass vaccination programme, which runs until March 2022.
