RESIDENTS have been urged to look out for one another as a Wrexham crime prevention initiative continues.

At the beginning of September North Wales Police launched Operation Blue Instinct.

The scheme, first launched in Offa and Esclusham last year to crack down on opportunistic crime as the nights draw, in proved to be a success - leading to a significant reduction in the number of burglaries.

But this year the Wrexham Town police team has brought the initiative back on a larger scale, to help protect residents across the town as a whole.

Sergeant David Smith said: "I would like to thank our partners, local businesses and organisations for supporting Operation Blue Instinct.

"Our crime prevention literature is visible and accessible right across Wrexham Town and social media.

"We want to reach a far wider audience to help protect all residents of Wrexham Town from offences such as Burglary and rogue traders.

"Local charities such as Dragon Dinners and Caia Park Partnership are very kindly delivering our leaflets with their meals on wheels services to those most vulnerable in the community, our posters are displayed on Arriva buses and inside local businesses and banks.

"We want to raise awareness and help provide enough information to prevent members of our town being targeted by those that wish to cause most harm.

"In the coming weeks and months we will be holding numerous events across the town to actively engage with residents and provide advice and support.

"I encourage neighbours to look out for one another, join our new community alerts messaging service to receive up to date information about what is happening in your area, and help make a difference in your street by joining a neighbourhood watch scheme.”
