DISGRACED MP Rob Roberts has been heckled as he spoke at Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

There were clear boos as the Delyn MP, who has had the Conservative whip withdrawn after he was found to have sexually harassed a member of his staff, asked PM Boris Johnson a question.

As the MP, who still sits on the government benches, sat down there was a clear shout of ‘resign’.

The MP was first elected in the December 2019 general election but was suspended from the Commons for six weeks in May this year after an independent panel ruled he had harassed a male staff member who he repeatedly propositioned and asked to be “less alluring”.

He apologised for a "completely improper" breach of trust "in the MP-staff relationship".

Though MPs backed a suspension a technicality meant constituents weren’t able to sign a recall petition which could have forced a by-election though Mr Roberts has faced repeated calls to resign.

The government and opposition parties agreed upon a change in the rules but Labour wanted it applied retrospectively while the chair of the expert panel which ruled on the MP's case had argued against that.

It was revealed today the MP has been given a 12 week suspension from the Conservative Party, which ends on November 1, though he will not have the whip restored so will continue to be an independent MP.

He used his question to raise the case of farmers Einion and Elliw Jones who have been told their milk vending machine Mynydd Mostyn farm in Trelogan, near Holywell, has fallen foul of planning rules.

The MP said thousands had signed a petition in their support and that businesses shouldn’t be punished as they seek to overcome the pandemic.

The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said planning is devolved but said his government has supported businesses through the pandemic.
