AREAS of Newtown have been left without power following an unexpected fault.
The power cut was reported shortly after 7am and is affecting properties in Brynglas Avenue, Ash Close, Sycamore Drive and surrounding streets.
Power providers SP Energy Networks say there was no advance warning of the cut.
A spokesman for the firm said: "There is a power cut in the SY16 postcode area of Newtown, affecting properties in Brynglas Avenue, Ash Close, Sycamore Drive and surrounding streets.
"We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 7.06am.
"Our engineers have arrived on site and are investigating the cause of the fault.
"Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 10.15am.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
