A LOCAL football club has celebrated a 'great achievement' as they represent their country.
Cefn Druids Football Club in Rhosymedre has celebrated on winning the Wales Futsal Championship.
As a result, the Club’s Futsal team have qualified to play in the UEFA Champions League this season representing Wales, and are due to fly to North Macedonia this month for the first games.
The squad, which includes 20 players, are very much looking forward to participating in this international event.
Futsal is an association football game played on a hard court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors.
Welsh Conservative MP Simon Baynes recently visited the club to congratulate them on their success.
Stephen Shakeshaft said: "We are delighted to represent Wales in the inaugural EUFA Futsal Champions League – a great achievement for a small Club like ourselves. Simon has always been a great help to us and we are grateful for his support."
Mr Baynes added: "I very much enjoyed visiting Cefn Druids Football Club again and hearing how successful their Futsal team have been recently. It’s a wonderful achievement for a local club in Clwyd South to win the Wales Futsal Championship and to represent Wales in the UEFA Champions League.
"I wish them every success in the games this month. And I look forward to seeing the club continue to grow and expand in the months and years ahead."
