THE A55 in Flintshire is at a standstill after a crash involving a motorcyclist.
Traffic Wales says the incident occurred eastbound between J33 A5119 Northop Road (Northop) and J33A (Northop Hall West).
One lane was reportedly blocked and there were tailbacks stretching five miles.
The crash has since been cleared but heavy congestion remains in the area.
There is congestion to J22 (Old Colwyn) and traffic reports state that travel time is 1 hour 30 minutes.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic accident involving a motorbike in the Northop area at 12.42pm today.
"We responded with one emergency ambulance and our Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. One patient was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital for further treatment."
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.49 by the ambulance service to a report of a road traffic collision on the eastbound side of the A55 at Junction 33 Northop, involving a motorbike.
"The incident caused congestion in the area so officers attended whilst ambulance colleagues dealt with the incident.
"Recovery was arranged for the motorbike and emergency services have now left the scene."
