A YOUNG Ewloe man has been jailed after dealing drugs from his family home.

Joseph William Carlton Fowler, of Maes Terrig, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Friday.

The 21-year-old admitted that over a three-month period in 2020, he was concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis to another, and that on May 27 of that year he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis with intent to supply it to another, as well as possession of MDMA.

Myles Wilson, prosecuting, told the court that when police searched Fowler's family home last year they found a set of electronic weighing scales and three bags of cannabis worth around £400 in his bedroom.

They also found four ecstasy tablets and seized two of his phones.

On the devices, officers found texts from people enquiring about buying cannabis and cocaine from the defendant.

Fowler had sent out messages agreeing and arranging to sell those drugs.

There were also messages which appeared to be from his mum, trying to dissuade him from selling drugs from the family home.

At interview he made admissions, saying he was a drug user who was selling the substances to fund his own habit.

Peter Barnett, defending, said: "It would seem he was selling small quantities to known associates and friends. "He has mental health issues and is a significant drug user and has been self medicating.

"He had a substantive drugs debt at the time. People took advantage of him and he continued to act as he did."

Judge Timothy Petts said: "It is clear you have had a troubled childhood, compounded by your mental health difficulties and drug use.

"You had no previous convictions at the time, and one unrelated conviction since.

"These are serious matters."

The Judge handed down a two year custodial sentence for being concerned in the supply of cocaine, a pair of concurrent six month sentences on the cannabis offences and no separate penalty for the MDMA offence.
