North Wales provides some of the most beautiful places to walk, as most dog owners are more than aware.

So it came as no surprise that a location right on our doorstep has been named one of the best National Parks in the UK for dogs.

According to the research by tails.com, Erddig landed in second place as the UK’s most dog-friendly National Park, with a score of 80 out of the possible 100. Located in Wrexham, the park provides an area for dogs to roam off the lead and has a dog-friendly garden, woodland and park.

The National Park has water facilities available for dogs and waste bins, but unfortunately for four-legged visitors, the park doesn’t have a dog-friendly restaurant.

While regulations vary from park to park, many of the UK’s best National Parks offer pet-friendly trails, access to restaurants, woodland/garden access, and other adventures for you to enjoy with your furry companions.

This week also saw the annual celebration of our furry friends, with National Dog Photography Day.

Pet photographer Kerry Jordan, of Fur and Fables, originally came up with the idea in 2018, with the emphasis on awareness.

As with most things dog related it went viral, taking the photographer by surprise.

So we asked Leader readers to share photos of their pooches.

With nearly 1,000 images shared via our Leader Live and Leader Camera Club Facebook pages, it's obvious we're a nation of some very photogenic pets.
