WREXHAM AFC have confirmed that Saturday’s behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly at Sheffield Wednesday has been cancelled.
The match, at Sheffield's Middlewood Road training complex, was due to be manager Phil Parkinson’s first pre-season game since taking charge.
It follows a number of absences from the Wrexham set-up due to coronavirus.
The club said in a statement: "However, after a number of COVID-19-related absences in the Wrexham camp, we have taken the decision to cancel this Saturday’s match as we await the return of several players from isolation.
"We would like to place on record our best wishes to all those affected, and thank Sheffield Wednesday for their understanding in this matter.
"Our match at Burnley Under-23s on Wednesday (July 28) is unaffected, and we look forward to starting our pre-season preparations against the Clarets."
