AN APPEAL has been launched following a burglary at an optician in Wrexham town centre.

Officers from the Wrexham Town policing team confirmed they were called shortly after 7.50am on Monday, July 19 to reports of a burglary at Jane Smellie Opticians on Caxton Place.

The incident is understood to have taken place sometime between 4pm on Saturday, July 17 and 7.50am on Monday, July 19.

Between £5,000 and £10,000 worth of glasses and sunglasses were stolen from the shop.

A police spokesman said: "We are now trying to establish an exact time when this offence took place between Saturday and Monday.

"Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time, or who can help with our investigation, is urged to contact us on 101, or via the live web chat, quoting reference 21000502060."
