Pupils at a Wrexham school have been focussing on wellbeing, which included at special visit to a local care home.

Year 3/4 teacher at Holt CP School, Sally Hughes, said: "On our return to school following the distance learning process, the pupils voted for pupil representatives from Years 2 to 6, and we called them Wellbeing Ambassadors.

"They have worked hard to promote the 'Five Ways To Wellbeing' throughout the school, tackling one of the ways each week.

"They have involved all the pupils in the school, parents, and the local community, and the response from everyone has been very positive.

"It has helped to offer some welcome support and positivity at a time when the children and their families need it the most.

"One of the activities pupils organised was a Wellbeing Walk around the school grounds, and the children were awarded with medals.

"They set up 'morning greeters', whereby the Wellbeing Ambassadors stood at the gate each morning and at home time with balloons to give an extra special welcome.

They have also created wonderful, cosy wellbeing areas in both the Foundation phase and Key Stage 2, using very generous donations from the Friends of Holt School and individual parents.

"As part of the 'Give' week, pupils made cards and forget-me-not gifts, which we then presented to the residents of Manor Park Care Home in Holt.

"The children enjoyed their visit very much and the residents were over the moon with their gifts and the opportunity to engage with the children."

Sally added there were plans for further visits and they looked forward to working with Manor Park on future projects.

Manager at Manor Park, Sue Ashman, said of the visit: "Residents really enjoyed it, they loved the visit. It was really nice for them to see the children.

"The children were lovely. The things that they had made, the forget-me-not flowers and cards, were absolutely stunning.

"The residents are thrilled with them."
