• ST ANNE'S SCHOOL, Caia Park, Wrexham

Children at the school joined Shane Hughes from Keep Wales Tidy to litter pick in their community.

Staff and children from the school's Eco Council spent an hour collecting litter, filling bags.

The children were surprised at just how much litter people throw away.

YSGOL Y WAUN, Gwernaffield

Class 4 at the school have been reading the book, Sky Hawk, about children on a farm with a loch in Scotland, when suddenly they see an osprey called Iris.

This brought to the children's attention their most recent topic, Llyn Brenig.

Llyn Brenig was the site of terrible vandalism, when a pair of ospreys, who had just laid their egg, had their nest destroyed with a chainsaw.

Class teacher Richard Lloyd said: "We have been disgusted and upset knowing someone has destroyed and vandalised the nest of a living creature.

"Consequently, we have decided to bike, scooter, or run/walk for 60 minuets on the school grounds on July 14.

"We have made a JustGiving page to get some donations help raise money for this wonderful cause, aiming for £100. Hopefully, we will surpass that target."

• NORTHOP HALL CP SCHOOL

Pupils at the Flintshire school were inspired to help, after hearing of the work by Hedgehog Help Prestatyn.

After hearing a story about one of the poorly prickly creatures who had to visit the hedgehog hospital for rehabilitation, the children wanted to know how they could help more.

Since them, the Year 3 class have been building hedgehog boxes for the school grounds after starting a mini topic about hedgehogs.

Year 3 teacher Mel Williams shared some photos of the children's efforts.

• DEE VALLEY FEDERATION OF SCHOOLS

Members of the federation were thrilled to be invited to take part in an exciting project to produce a package of digital learning bundles for the World Heritage Site, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

Everyone was delighted to be involved and staff have been consulted in helping to produce resources that are engaging and relevant to teaching about the locality.

Xplore! Wrexham helped with the project, and filmed the children in their schools, demonstrating their 'build an aqueduct' and other activities.

• YSGOL BRYN GWALIA, Mold

Despite a school year full of uncertainty, pupils have been enjoying themselves with the fun of sports day.

Headteacher Lorraine Dalton said: "Although it wasn’t the same without parents cheering the children on, a good time was had by all!"

The school also recently received a very special donation.

Mrs Dalton said: "We were so touched and grateful to a local resident whose daughter Lauryn used to attend our school, for donating dressing up clothes for nursery and a full size doll’s house.

"Lauryn was a pupil here, until 2014 when she sadly passed away, aged only eight-years-old.

"Mum, Emma, has always had fond memories of the school and holds it very dear to her heart, as do we to her and the memory of Lauryn.

"The children were absolutely thrilled with their new clothes."

And finally there was a new addition, Pip the school dog, who is helping the youngsters with their Welsh language.

Mrs Dalton said: "Pip is adapting to school life and enjoying all the fuss that is being made of him.

"He only speaks Welsh, so pupils are encouraged to have a conversation in Welsh at all times.

"He is also great at listening and a wonderful addition to our amazing nurture room."
