Cilka's Journey by Heather Morris

The Leader: Cilka's Journey by Heather MorrisCilka's Journey by Heather Morris

Cilka Klein is just 16, in 1942, when she enters Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp. She attracts the unwelcome attention of the Camp Commandant, learning sadly that this gives her some influence which can also mean survival. Once liberated, Cilka is labelled a collaborator and sent to Siberia, to Vorkuta, a cruel and bleak prison camp in the Arctic Circle. Captive once more, the innocent Cilka faces both new and familiar horrors in her fight to survive. In these horrific conditions, despite everything, Cilka finds friends and true love. Based on the true story of Cilka Klein, this international bestseller is the sequel to The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Cilka was an incredibly brave woman whose life is testament to the triumph of the human spirit. It is an astonishing and inspiring story of a woman's determined fight for survival. An incredible, poignant and tragic story of courage and determination in the face of evil.
