WORK to make a Buckley community centre's garden accessible and usable 365 days a year will get underway in the coming weeks, it has been confirmed.
The Leader reported earlier this year how plans for The 'Hawkesbury Covid Garden 2021' were announced for the rear of Hawkesbury Community Centre.
Cllr David Ellis, chairman of the community centre, has now confirmed the scheme will start on the week commencing July 19 and will entail the replacement of the old garden with artificial grass, as well as the installation of a gazebo.
He said: "It's going to be great.
"Everyone in our user groups is looking forward to this because it gives more opportunities and it's a 240 square metre area, so with social distancing you can have 100 people there safely.
"The Hawkesbury Playgroup have funded the gazebo and I went there to inspect the bases - the children were elated.
"All of the parents whose children go to the playgroup are made up with it as well because it's a very secure area."
