MOST Wrexham fans would rather see their club earn promotion to the Football League than Wales lift the trophy as Euro 2020.

Just 3% of Wales fans believe the Gareth Bale and co can win the Euros.

But in Wrexham, seeing their team return to the Football League after years in the wilderness is a far sweeter prospect.

A YouGov survey of over 2,000 football fans on behalf of Betfair ahead of the Euros sees 3% of Wales supporters picking caretaker manager Rob Page's men to win the Euros - with a healthy 27% believing they can make the quarter finals.

But the majority (46%) believe they will go out after the round of 16.

The same survey found that 47% of Wales fans would rather their club won the league/was promoted next season than the national team win the Euros.

But in Wrexham, this is likely to be much higher. With the frustration of missing a place in the play-offs on the last day of this season, hopes are high that under the new ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney a return to the league is a realistic ambition next season.

We asked Wrexham fans if they would back gory for club or country in given the choice.

Alun Morgan said: "Wrexham winning promotion is a much more realistic wish! Next season will surely do it!"

Gareth Roberts said: "Wrexham promoted 4 seasons in a row."

Paul Edwards said: "Wrexham all day long, it’s our time to shine!!!"

Dave Smith said: "Wrexham up and internationals back at The Racecourse."

Martin Gregory said: "Wrexham promoted, twice in two seasons."

There was no consensus among fans, with some saying they would prefer to see Wales as champions of Europe.

And for fans like John Roberts the choice was clear.

He said: "Both."
