Whether it's camping with family or an organised outing with a group, adventure in the great outdoors has long been a firm favourite with youngsters for generations.

From the Scouts and Brownies to summer playschemes, many a memory has been made.

This set of photos shows a group of Clwyd Army Cadets taking part in an adventure camp at the great location of Llanrhaeadr, near Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, in 1984.

Exploring, abseiling, shaving by a river are just some of the highlights experienced by the young cadets.
