A SIMPLE Instagram hashtag - #adventuresonfourpaws - has led to over 10,000 photos being shared on the social media platform highlighting the UK’s favourite locations for doggy adventures.

When Lauren Jones and Rachel Southern, co-founders of dog friendly travel website Dog Friendly Destinations, introduced the hashtag during the pandemic to inspire dog owners to snap and share their daily dog walks.

They never expected to see four-legged friends joining in from The Highlands of Scotland right down to the tip of the Cornish coast.

The Flintshire-based duo are thrilled with the response, and incredibly proud of the sense of community that has developed between dog owners who have never actually met in person.

Lauren said: “When we launched the #adventuresonfourpaws hashtag during lockdown, we had no idea that so many dog owners would join in.

“At a time when many of us could not enjoy dog walks much beyond our own town or village, it was a such a lovely way to connect with people (and dogs) and head out on virtual walks; walks that many have bookmarked to attempt for real in the future.

“It fostered a real sense of community for all the dog lovers sharing, liking and commenting on each other’s Instagram posts, and highlighted parts of the UK previously unknown – there’s nothing like local knowledge when it comes to discovering the best dog friendly destinations!

“I’m thrilled that the hashtag is continuing to gather momentum with more people joining in every single day.”

The team at Dog Friendly Destinations invite you to join in and share your favourite places to stay, places to eat and places to go with your four-legged friends.

Wherever and whenever you’re out exploring the UK, simply take a snap, upload it to Instagram using the #adventuresonfourpaws hashtag and tag @dogfriendlydestinationsuk.

Each month, a favourite image is chosen to win a prize from British clothing and home brand, Frankie & Dottie’s.
