ICELAND has come up with a novel way of keeping workers at a Deeside vaccine centre cool.

The frozen food giant is delivering ice lollies to Deeside’s Mass Vaccination Centre following the break-down of the site’s air-con system to help keep volunteers, health workers and patients cool as temperatures continue to soar this June.

As an extra thank you to the centre, Iceland will be donating a freezer so that the team and their patients can stay cool throughout the summer.

The goodies include Iceland’s exclusive ice lolly lines, such as Barratt Fruit Salad Raspberry & Pineapple Flavour Ice Cream Lollies, Swizzles Parma Violets Ice Lollies, Swizzles Drumstick Squashies Bubble Gum Flavour, Skittles Cooler Sour Ice Cream, Maltesers Orange Ice Cream, and many more.

Health workers, military personal and volunteers have been administering over 700 vaccines a day at Deeside’s Mass Vaccination centre since December, with the total number of vaccinations surpassing the 50,000 mark.

With the centre being of high importance, Iceland is keen to keep both the staff members distributing the vaccine, and patients receiving the vaccine, as cool and calm as possible.

Richard Walker, Managing Director of Iceland, said: “We are delighted to be able to help the volunteers and frontline healthcare workers who really have shown to be the heroes of the pandemic.

"It’s so important that everyone goes to get their vaccine as soon as possible and helping out the vaccination centre on our head office’s doorstep was the least we could do to help.”
