THE long awaited re-opening of indoor hospitality in Wales will begin from Monday - and eateries in Flintshire and Wrexham couldn't be more excited.

It has been a long time coming for the hospitality industry - but people thinking about dining out - indoors - from Monday will find a lot to tantalise the tastebuds.

Cafes and restaurants will be serving up some old favourites, but many have added new items to their menus to celebrate.

And some, like the Sleepy Panda in Wrexham, are offering discounts and other special offers.

The restaurant posted on socia media: "We re-open for dining in on the 17th May! We can't wait to welcome you back inside and are offering 20% off!"

To celebrate the reopening of its Broughton restaurant, Prezzo is launching with a bang with a fuller menu than ever before.

Prezzo diners will be able to tuck into some of their Italian classic favourites, including Spaghetti Bolognese (also available as a Vegan and Gluten Free option), Tiramisu, King Prawn & Salmon Risotto and Goats Cheese Al Forno.

But now guests will also be able to choose from new meat-free options, including Vegan ‘Pepperoni’ Pizza and Vegan ‘Chicken’ & Roasted Pepper Pizza. And for those with a sweet tooth, the new Blackcurrant & Prosecco Cheesecake is a must-have to finish on a high.

A Prezzo spokesperson said: “We can’t wait to welcome our customers for covid-safe, indoor dining! All the favourites are back on the menu, plus some exciting new additions. It’s been a really tough year and we’re so looking forward to having our restaurants buzzing with customers again. Hospitality is what we do, and we’ve missed it so much. Ordering is quick and easy (you can order from your table if you prefer), we’ve been busy training our teams, and prepping and polishing everything!

"We really are better than ever.”

The award-winning Woodworks Café in Mold has announced that it will offer indoor dining from Monday thanks to the latest easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The Woodworks Café, part of The Woodworks Garden Centre in Mold, will be offering a menu full of customer favourites such as breakfast baps, Welsh Rarebit, cakes, afternoon teas, paninis and sandwiches.

Café manager, Fiona Coke said: “We are excited to be able to offer indoor dining again and look forward to showing off our newly redecorated café. As well as giving the area some TLC, we have created a gallery of pictures which showcases the history of The Woodworks Garden Centre and Café and P&A Group.

“Customers will now have the option of dining indoors as well as outside, subject to the weather. We have introduced a number of new systems to ensure we follow government guidelines, including an online booking form on our website - www.woodworksgc.com/cafe/- and customers can be assured that the team will be on hand to give them a very warm and friendly welcome!”

In Hawarden, Chocks Away Diner and The Hawarden Estate Farm shop have both been taking bookings.

The estate shop posted that "we can FINALLY open for indoor service once again".

"We have been waiting for this day for a long time, and you can book your table now. We can't wait!"

Chocks Away posted last week: "Finally the news we have been waiting for!

"Up to 6 people from 6 households to a table. We can't wait to have you back indoors from Monday."

But eager diners are being reminded that Covid-19 hasn’t gone away - venues, staff and customers must still take precautions to ensure cases remain low.

Safeguards in place for you to safely enjoy your local pub, cafe or restaurant:

  • You will be expected to provide contact details so you can be contacted by Test, Trace and Protect if there are any positive cases at an establishment you have visited.
  • There’ll also be a limit on the numbers who can meet together. It’s been agreed that up to six people can meet together indoors, the same as outdoors and business owners will be carefully managing this to ensure social distancing between tables.
  • People are being advised to book before they go and to pay attention to any time limits establishments may put in force such as a 2 hour maximum stay. It’s important for them to ensure they can safely serve the maximum number of customers.
  • If you’re using public transport you’ll need to be socially distanced and will need to wear a face mask. This includes taxis so please make sure you carry one with you at all times.
  • Only seated customers will be served and there will be table service to avoid any queueing at bars.

Cllr Terry Evans, Lead Member for Economic Development and Regeneration at Wrexham Council, said: “This is very good news for lots of businesses across Wrexham who have had to endure weeks and months of no customers in an effort to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

“They now deserve our support but we need to remember that in order to remain open everyone will have to be mindful of the safeguards that are in place and make sure we do everything we can to work together in the coming weeks.”

Cllr Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Communities, Partnerships, Public Protection and Community Safety a Wrexham Council, added: “The situation in Wrexham has improved and positive cases, thankfully, remain low. TTP remains in place for our protection as does the many safeguards we have become used to such as wearing face coverings, avoiding crowded areas and paying attention to our hand hygiene.

“As we look forward to a brighter future please support local businesses as they are supporting us to remain safe by putting in place measures in line with Government regulations.”
