A DEESIDE health studio is excited to be back in full swing after bringing the community together during lockdown.

From May 3, Wales left Alert Level 4 - the toughest level of restrictions that can be imposed - and gyms in Wales were able to re-open their doors and fitness classes resumed.

JS-PT, based in Connah’s Quay and Mold, continues to go from strength to strength as they adapt to the coronavirus pandemic.

Owner Jack Sullivan told the Leader: "Since last year we haven't stopped, we've been busy but in a very different way. We've been working flat out, we went from being allowed outdoor classes to indoors this week.

"We've had work done inside and worked through the lockdown because we wanted people to feel welcome and keep them going.

"If people aren't ready to come back then it's entirely up to them. Some people are seeing family and friends, some aren't but lockdown easing is a big step and we don't want people feeling overwhelmed.

"Take it easy, don’t rush back, if you haven’t done a lot lately you risk injury and you will be aching a lot in the first week. The most important thing is, don’t be pressured, if you're not comfortable being out in a group, you're not singled out. It's okay to take longer to return just because the dates say we can, you don’t have to."

JS-PT is offering both online sessions and face to face sessions so people do not feel pressured to return to the studio.

Despite the pressures and uncertainty of lockdown, the studio has provided around 1,400 online sessions and have raised over £3,000 for charity and to help local businesses struggling.

It has been a good month for JS-PT as they not only got to re-open their doors and welcome back their customers, but they were also named Best Personal Training Service by the Global Health and Pharma (GHP).

The team have also opened a new building in Mold.

Jack added: "We won an award for community excellence in Fitness and wellbeing 2021. It was our 7th birthday on Saturday so it was all good timing because we had not long returned for outdoor sessions and then we could open for indoor sessions.

"We opened our new place in Mold, we are seeing old clients back and also seeing new ones. It's been a hell of a ride, we opened in October then had to shut for seven weeks just as we were getting our feet on the ground.

"Everyone has struggled at certain points but we tried to keep going and most importantly keep the community going.

"The business has not been where we wanted to be financially, some of our busiest times like New Year and summer we haven’t had that, we missed out, but we were able to keep going and pay staff and we are still here which is the main thing.

"We are all looking forward to having a routine and seeing people. There's a large social aspect here, lots of our members haven't seen their friends for months.

"We can only control what we can, whatever the future holds we will be ready."
