But this van is extra special and made even contain a world first feature - a working lift to take you to the pop top sleeping area.

Gemma, 34, said: "When we created this design we had it in mind that we wanted somewhere for a family, to sleep four, and also have its own shower and toilet facilities. More importantly we wanted it to carry larger items like a motorbike or a big kayak. This is what we came up with."

The 2020 Fiat Ducato (L3H2) Shadow Edition camper, which is for sale at a price of £60,000, has as many mod cons as most homes.

It sleeps four, has a full shower room and toilet, and four seats with a fold-down dining table. It is fitted with a fridge, freezer, oven, sink, three burner hob, and there is still space to carry a motorcycle or kayak.

With so many features, Simon and Gemma were faced with just one problem. Where to put the ladder to get into the pop top sleeping area.

Referring to the pop top, Gemma said: "You may be thinking if we're going to have two children sleeping up there, how do they get up there? We couldn't decide where to put a ladder, so instead we made a lift.

"I think it has to be one of the most unique things that we've ever done in a campervan. It's a new high!"

She added: "I think it's probably the only campervan in the world with a lift in it. It's all done with lightweight wood and is all calculated to give it a good payload. It's a very versatile van."

The electric hydraulic scissor lift was built by 41-year-old Simon in the workshop, with some electrical help from his dad, before being installed in the camper.

Simon and Gemma, who live near Gwersyllt with their children Mason and Emilia, have become well-known for the creative projects.

They hit the headlines earlier this month when they bought a WW2 warship on eBay, which they are in the process of restoring.
