A LOCAL woman has spoken of her relief at opening a high street salon after fearing she'd lose her business during the pandemic.

Jade Bartie, 30, was joined by Mold mayor, Cllr Theresa Carberry, on Monday for the opening of her Aesthetics & Beauty by Jade salon on Chester Street in the town centre.

The mother-of-one said she's been "overwhelmed" by the reaction by local people to the town centre's latest edition, but admitted it came close to never happening.

Jade, who is local to Mold, told the Leader: "In 2019 I started the business which I ran from home. I had plans to open the salon this time last year - but the pandemic put pay to that.

"I had to take a second job working in a mental health hospital - which I fell in love with.

"Not knowing if I could recover my business due to the pandemic, I really considered about finishing it and carrying on with the second job.

"But my dream was to have my own place on the high street and I decided to persevere - I'm so glad I did."

She added: "If the last year taught me anything it’s to believe in yourself and your dreams. I’ve worked my backside off to get to this point.

"I’m feeling a real proud, sense of self achievement right now knowing I’ve managed to come out the other side.

"Thank you all for the ever continuing support."
