A WREXHAM man has been jailed after being caught behind the wheel whilst banned.

Alan Thomas, of Deva Way, was put behind bars for just over three months for the crime.

The 47-year-old was brought before North East Wales Magistrates Court on Friday where he admitted to his actions.

Earlier this year, on March 7, Thomas was said to have been caught driving a Vauxhall Corsa near his home address on Deva Way, while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

Whilst he was at the North Wales Police Custody Suite in Llay, the court was told he was required to provide a specimen of breath for analysis but refused to do so without reasonable excuse.

He was committed to prison for 14 weeks as the court recorded that the offence was “so serious” and that Thomas had “a flagrant disregard for court orders”.

In addition to this, Thomas was ordered to pay a fine of £128 and disqualified from driving for 48 months.
