THE endless imagination of children is being celebrated in a literary competition led by a North Wales company.

Lyons Holiday Parks, based in Rhyl, is inviting children across the region to take part in its first Living Dreams competition this World Book Day (March 4).

The winner will get to witness their stories become reality, in a surprise format gifted by the company's marketing team.

The winning child’s words will also entitle the whole family to a hot tub holiday at the company's park in Rhyl.

Organisers are also keen to promote the Welsh language, and Welsh-medium submissions will also be gratefully received.

Beth Hughes, Living Dreams leader, said she hopes the competition will boost North Wales’ children to read and articulate through the language.

She said: “World Book Day doesn't just celebrate reading.

"It's a chance for youngsters to become the authors of their own lives at whatever age they want.

"It allows children and adults to freely wander in a fictional realm, and that form of escapism from everyday life is essential."

An inspiring topic has been announced on the company’s homepage, which entrants of all ages up to the age of 18 can use to create a story and submit. Anyone from across the UK is free to enter before the deadline on April 9.

The winner will be announced on Monday, April 19, and the surprise format announced on social media on the same day.

As “the imagination of a child is boundless,” there’s no requirement on the format entries can be submitted.

Beth added: “The Living Dreams competition is designed to encourage and nurture creativity, not stifle it in any way.

"Kids can submit a short story, a Vlog, a cartoon strip – anything they can think of that’s legible.

"Siblings are also free to enter as one single applicant, to encourage teamwork and family bonding.”
