In partnership with Flintshire Council, Wrexham Council and Tŷ Pawb, Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam have organised a week full of virtual celebrations to celebrate St. David’s Day between March 1- 5.
The celebrations might be different but they’ll reflect the fact that although we’re all apart we can still come together to celebrate Wales’ Patron Saint safely from home this year – and there will be something for everyone.
The results of St David’s Eisteddfod competitions will be announced throughout the week and there will also be various activities including a virtual parade with Band Cambria, cookery tips and recipes and much, much, more.
These will be shared on Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam’s social media platforms between March 1-5.
As part of the celebrations, a quiz for all the family ‘Taith yr Iaith’, hosted by R. Ben Igwr (Llion Williams) will be held through Zoom on Tuesday, March 2, between 6-7pm. To book your place, email anna@menterfflintwrecsam.cymru.
The celebrations will come to an end with a special session from the band Bandicoot on the Facebook pages of Tŷ Pawb and Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam on Friday, March 5 at 7.30pm.
Flintshire Council’s cabinet member for corporate management said: "We are delighted to work with Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam to celebrate St David’s Day. Menter Iaith has worked hard to ensure that we can participate in St David’s day virtually. The events organised by them are an opportunity for us all to share and celebrate and be proud of our Welsh culture. Although it is disappointing that we cannot hold the traditional activities like the window dressing competitions, there will be something for everyone to take part in safely, in the comfort of their own homes.
Wrexham Councillor Hugh Jones, said: "Celebrating St David's Day is an important part of living in Wales, and this year there will be many exciting and safe ways we can do that online. Let us make sure we join together digitally in 2021 and make it a St David's Day to remember for all the good things happening."
