A PAIR of swans have had a ‘magical’ reunion following an ordeal on a Flintshire waterfall.

The Leader previously reported that, earlier this month, RSPCA officers were called after a swan was spotted stuck beneath the fast-flowing waterfall at Greenfield Valley Park near Holywell.

Flintshire Council rangers joined the RSPCA at the park in the hope of coming to the aid of the trapped bird that was trying to reach its mate waiting at the top of the towering waterfall.

The bird required a period of rehabilitation and care following the ordeal. It had also sustained an eye injury.

He had been transferred to the Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Crewe but was this week brought back to North Wales and had a ‘magical’ reunion with its partner.

On social media, a spokesman for Greenfield Valley said: “A huge thank you to the RSPCA for returning the Swan to the valley yesterday [Thursday].

“After a waterfall rescue and a few weeks of specialist veterinary care the Swan was reunited with his mate yesterday and what a magical sight it was. They were a bit happy to see each other.”
