A POPULAR coffee shop in Wrexham town centre is closing next month as its owner looks ahead to a new partnership with a local enterprise hub.

Siblings Phil and Andy Gallanders opened King Street Coffee Company, located inside the bus station, in 2016 - before Andy left to open Bank Street Social two years later.

But the King Street shop is to close its doors for good on March 6, with the siblings linking up with Town Square Spaces (which owns Wrexham Enterprise Hub) to open new coffee shops.

Phil says the decision to close the shop has nothing to do with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “We’ve always been blown away with the support that the people of Wrexham have shown us, especially in the last year with the issues brought about by the Covid situation.

“Our focus on quality goods and service alongside supporting the local community has led to us being offered the chance to partner with Town Square Spaces to open up coffee shops in future projects.

“In order to deliver these projects to the best of our abilities King Street Coffee Company will be closing and I’ll be joining Andy at Bank Street Social to continue serving top quality coffee and craft beer."

The first space operated by Town Square Social will be opening in Rhyl later on this year with plans to expand to town centres all over the UK.
