A 'SHABBY' looking alleyway in Gwersyllt has received a much needed makeover.
The communal alleyway, located behind First Avenue and Heol Hyfryd, has faced ongoing criticism over the years due to its overgrown hedges, broken glass and various incidents of flytipping.
However, Cllr Phil Rees, of Gwersyllt North Ward, took to social media earlier last week, to inform residents of its transformation after the clean up.
He posted: "Credit where it’s due, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the guys at Streetscene at Wrexham Council who’ve done a fantastic job this week clearing this path behind First Avenue and Heol Hyfryd, and bringing it back into use - and also for the work they’ve done on the paths around Bryn Glas.
"They cleared four pick up loads of rubbish from it, including four mattresses.
"The surface of the path needs some repairs, especially on the stretch nearest the shops, and it’s been put forward for the next programme of works – there’s no decision on that yet, but if it’s included I’ve also asked if they can do something to reduce the height of the steps.
"We all know that there are other areas that need attention too but wouldn’t it be great, now it’s been cleared, if it stays clear, and people don’t dump any more rubbish there?
"So that they can now concentrate on other paths instead, and make some progress on getting the whole area back to how it should be."
