Babies and Books sessions

We are launching some new online sessions called Babies and Books, which will be all about lap time bonding with your baby and sharing books and rhymes. These will be short informal sessions shared on our social media pages (along with some Zoom sessions) aimed at babies aged 0-18 months. We will be sharing sessions every Friday at 10.30am on our social media pages. The sessions will include extra special Bookstart resources which you will be able to order through our Select & Collect Service.

Online activities for children

Our monthly Children's Reading Group takes place on the last Thursday of month, with this month's session taking place on February 25, from 4pm-5pm. Our Zoom Rhymetime sessions take place every third Thursday of the month from 2pm-3pm, and we also have online activities taking place on a weekly basis on our social media pages including rhymetime and story time sessions available to watch on our Facebook page (@LlyfrgelloeddAuraLibraries) and YouTube channel (aura wales). For more information about any of our online activities, or to register, please email library manager Susannah Hill at: susannah.hill@aura.wales We hope to see you soon!

Weekly Book Corner

Earwig by B. Catling

Earwig by B. Catling

This week's book corner recommendation comes from library assistant Francine Hornby at Broughton Library. She recommends Earwig by B. Catling. Francine said: "Earwig by B. Catling is a novella with an ostensibly simple plot but the author creates a thread of disquiet with use of vivid metaphors, violent, sad, uncanny and beautiful. The book is written almost in an avant-garde way, as if Lars von Trier had written it; a mix of Edgar Allan Poe and The Master And Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov. Earwig is different to anything else I have read in years and for such quick read I know I'll never forget it. I give this title an Aura Book Score of 4/5!"

This title is available to borrow from your local Aura library. If this book sounds right up your street, why not add it to your next Select and Collect order: search our online library catalogue and reserve titles, or email or telephone your local library. As a reminder, our libraries are currently open for Select and Collect orders only: to make an order please telephone us on 01352 703750, or email us at libraries@aura.wales . You can browse our catalogue at www.aura.wales/flintshire-library-catalogue/ and place a hold on items to collect from the library counter. We will just need to know your library membership number, a contact telephone number and email address, your book requests/preferences, and your preferred collection point.

Run up to World Book Day
