A VILLAGE will show its support to the family of a brave 10-year-old that touched the hearts of thousands.

The funeral of Eva Grace Williams will take place on Wednesday, with a unicorn-drawn carriage leaving the family home in Marford tomorrow (DEL-WEDNESDAY) at 12.30pm.

Villagers will be able to show their support by gathering - socially distanced - on Chester Road to give Eva the send off she deserves.

They can also leave cards, messages and other items at the fountain by The Plough for the family.

Those who are unable to attend can make donations to the family's chosen charities - Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith, The Joshua Tree and CLIC Sargent - in lieu of flowers.

Ten-year-old Eva Grace Williams, of Marford, Wrexham, passed away on January 8 just over a year after she was diagnosed with intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG).

Eva's parents Paul and Carran said: "In “normal” times we would be asking for as many people as possible to join us to celebrate Eva’s life, but due to the restrictions relating to Covid, we are only able to have a small ceremony.

"The funeral itself will take place on 24th February, with the ceremony starting at 1.30pm.

"We will be leaving our house in Marford at 12.30pm, with Eva’s coffin carried along in a carriage by unicorns. We will head up to Eva’s school – the Rofft School – before travelling through the villages, into town, and then finish up at Pentrebychan Crematorium.

"For those who are able, we are asking for you to stand outside and see Eva off, giving her the send off she deserves. If you have your Unbeatable Eva clothing, or if you have anything purple, please do wear this too. The day is going to be the hardest we will ever experience and so we are determined to make it as much of a celebration for Eva as possible. She would have loved it to get everyone together.

"Thank you to all of you who have supported us this past 12 months – we are asking one more time for you to support us by making this day as celebratory as it can be, in such a heartbreaking time."
