WREXHAM'S MP has met with residents to highlight the damage caused by recent flooding.
After hearing from many concerned constituents and seeing the flooding for herself, Sarah Atherton invited local councillor Mike Morris, and Streetscene Supervisor from Wrexham Council, Greg McArthur to meet with residents in Bowling Bank who have been impacted by Storm Christopher.
During the meeting, residents discussed the clean up effort and preventative measures with the Wrexham Council representatives.
Concerns about the structural integrity of the Holt Farndon Bridge, crossing the River Dee between Holt in Wrexham and Farndon in Cheshire, were also raised.
Sarah and Edward Timpson, MP for Eddisbury, visited the site, inviting cllr Paul Roberts, and cllr Karen Shore, who is responsible for environment, highways and transport for Cheshire West and Chester Council, to highlight the impact the floods have had on the Holt Bridge.
MP Atherton, said: “Residents here were affected badly by Storm Christopher, with flood water damaging at several local properties.
"Issues with drains as well as the maintenance of local gulleys have all contributed to the problem.
"I'm grateful to Wrexham Council for coming and listening to residents, providing advice on what can be done and promising to look into ways in which the council can help end this problem.
“I'm pleased that representatives from Cheshire West Council met with Edward Timpson, Member of Parliament for Eddisbury, and myself to hear the concerns of constituents.
"It's reassuring that the bridge, which is so important to the local community, is structurally sound.
"Further work is expected to take place in the spring.”
