A WREXHAM hospice has issued a statement after coronavirus cases were picked up amongst staff members.

Nightingale House Hospice has confirmed the affected staff members were picked up by the NHS Track and Trace system and issued a message that they continue to be vigilant against the virus.

They stressed that there are "no concerns" in relation to workplace transmission.

A spokesman for the hospice said: "Our priority at Nightingale House has always been to ensure the safety of our patients, their families, our staff and our volunteers. This is even more so in the current conditions of the pandemic.

"We provide all staff with access to adequate and appropriate PPE and we issue clear guidance on social distancing and washing of hands, as per Government requirements.

"As is inevitable in the current situation, our staff team at Nightingale House has been impacted by COVID 19, as have many people within the Wrexham County Borough area, which has seen high levels of community transmission.

"Where necessary, NHS Track and Trace has spoken to members of staff who have been affected and no concerns, in relation to workplace transmission, have been identified by NHS Track and Trace.

"We believe this reflects the procedures we have put in place and the diligence of our staff who have not attended work if they feel unwell. In addition, we provide access to weekly testing and this has identified some asymptomatic cases and those concerned have immediately self-isolated.

"We cannot afford to be complacent though, and we continue to closely monitor and review the safety measures we have in place so that we can respond immediately in this ever-changing and challenging environment. This enables us to be confident that we continue to ensure the safety of our patients, their families, our staff and our volunteers."
