OWNERS-ELECT Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have made funds available for Wrexham boss Dean Keates to spend on new signings - even though the takeover has still not been finalised.
The Hollywood A-listers are on the verge of taking control at The Racecourse, with the Supporters Trust last week reporting that contracts have been exchanged and that the deal is now awaiting approval from the Financial Conduct Authority.
The actors have pledged to invest £2million immediately once they are confirmed as the new owners and Keates has stated he will be able to complete new signings once the duo have bought the club.
However, the January transfer window closes on Monday and with time running out, McElhenney and Reynolds have given the Reds' boss a no-strings attached donation to make sure he is able to strengthen his squad to boost Wrexham's promotion challenge in the National League.
McElhenney tweeted: "Update: the @wrexhamafc takeover is still not 100% official and unfortunately it appears the handover will not be complete before the transfer window closes. So Ryan and I have made a donation to the Club to allow them (us? Folded hands) to make some moves. Up the town! #WrexhamIsTheName."
