A set of Wrexham schools have been able to acquire a selection of resources to help pupils with learning Welsh, after receiving a grant boost.

The children in the Dee Valley Federation schools have received a grant from GwE, the School Effectiveness and Improvement Service for North Wales.

This has allowed the schools to invest in a wide range of new Welsh resources to aid in learning Welsh as a second language.

Each school was able to choose a variety of things that would improve their learning and understanding of not only the language, but also the culture and patriotism of being Welsh.

Now Froncysyllte CP School, Ysgol y Garth and Ysgol Pentre have lots of books, games and toys to extend their learning and fun.

Before lockdown, the children were really enjoying their new activities and can't wait to get back to school to use their new selection of Welsh resources.

Teacher Danielle Weigh, leader of Welsh for the Dee Valley Federation, has said how vital resources like this are for improving the Welsh language from a young age.

"We have already seen a great difference in such a short time. This is a great step forward for Wrexham schools."
