A TEN week programme of roadworks on the Mold to Wrexham route is to begin in February.

Flintshire Council has said the A541 works will address congestion and improve bus journey times.

In a letter to residents, a spokesman for the council explains: "Following a successful bid to the Welsh Government under the heading of Local Transport Funding, I am pleased to announced Flintshire County Council has secured funding to complete a series of highway improvement works at [A541 Abermorddu Signals and A541 Hollybush Junction] commencing in February, 2021.

"The Hollybush junction and the A541 Abermorddu junction have suffered traffic congestion issues for many years.

"The proposed scheme will address the congestion and improve bus journey times on the core network providing improved access to education, employment opportunities and health facilities along the Mold to Wrexham route.

"The improvements will consist of the upgrade to the existing traffic signals at Abermorddu, a new junction layout including new traffic signals at the Hollybush junction, relocation of the existing bus stop and a section of carriageway resurfacing.

"The works will be taking place over a ten week period which will be managed by appropriate traffic control which may require weekend road closures.

"Advanced warning signage will [be] extracted on site two weeks prior to the commencement of the works.

"The scheme proposals can be viewed on Flintshire Council's website within the consultation section."
