Regarding the Bangor-on-Dee Flood warning and evacuations, a council spokesman said: "The area remains on flood warning status, but there are good signs that the situation is now improving.

As a precaution, residents have been evacuated from their homes in Bangor-on-Dee, with a particular focus on the most vulnerable in the community."

Regarding New Broughton, the spokesman contunued: "As previously reported, nine properties were flooded in Berse Road in New Broughton yesterday evening, and some residents had to be evacuated.

"Some are sheltering with relatives, while others were found accommodation by the council after being sheltered for a short time in a church hall. Our housing teams have been making sure they are safe and settled."

In terms of the situation across the county borough, the spokesman said: "The council continues to work closely with partner agencies (including emergency services) to monitor and respond to local issues being created by Storm Christoph, although the situation in The Lower Dee Valley is the priority this evening.

"Lots of roads have been affected by flooding across the county borough, but the peak of this seems to have passed in some areas, and our environment teams have put in place signage on roads affected.

"The weather is settling down but following the extremely wet weather ice is expected in all areas tomorrow morning. Our gritters went out this afternoon in readiness and will be out again later this evening.

"The situation will be monitored but everyone is advised to stay at home except for essential purposes…but if you have to go out, please drive carefully and wear suitable clothing and footwear if going by foot.

"We’ll continue to review the situation across the county borough on a regular basis through the night, including monitoring flooding hotspots and the weather forecast."
